Monthly Salary: $5,268

The following provides a general description of duties and a more specific description of requirements for the Health Educator – Reproductive Health Focus. Please note that the summary of responsibilities and required abilities identified below are not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of duties, responsibilities, or requirements.
Health Educator - Reproductive Health Focus will be part of a two-person team responsible for services delivered at four (4) of the fifty (50) Student Wellbeing Centers at Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) or other school district sites throughout Los Angeles County.
The duties of the Health Educator – Reproductive Health Focus include, but are not limited to:
● Implement reproductive health-focused services at assigned high schools which includes the provision of basic sexual health educational sessions (individual or group) and referrals for students seeking family planning services and the implementation of on-site testing for pregnancy and for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and other sexually transmitted infections (STI), among sexually active students and where appropriate follow-up education upon receipt of STI test results;
● Support student-led peer health education training;
● Build awareness on reproductive health issues and healthy and responsible life time sexual health habits; and
● Other duties as assigned.
o Master’s Degree from a program of study accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health with specialization in Public Health Education, Community Health Education, or equivalent.
o Experience implementing and conducting evidence-based, reproductive health programs for young people
o Demonstrated ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds and ages
o Demonstrated ability to work well with students of all abilities
o Knowledge of positive youth development essential elements and practices
o Computer literate and skilled in the use of Microsoft Windows-based programs, including Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
o Excellent oral and written communication skills
o Able to communicate effectively about sensitive issues in English and Spanish, or an alternative second language spoken by students in Los Angeles County schools
