Job Description

ACME Lift Co., the world’s largest strictly wholesale rental company, features the largest Genie and JLG self-propelled booms and telehandlers along with large Sullair air compressor starting at 700cfm. Units are available for re-rent daily, weekly and monthly, 24/7, throughout the United States and Canada.

ACME is currently recruiting for an experienced Transport Driver to keep up with customer demands in the Northeast. This is an excellent opportunity for the qualified candidate who will be responsible for relocation of large boom lifts, reach forklifts and portable air compressors to rental yards and occasional jobsites.

Ideal applicants will be based in the New Jersey area, have a clean Class A – CDL and have extensive experience in operating and transporting 80’ – 185’ lifts as well as 10,000 – 20,000 lb reach forks.

This position will report to the SVP for the region and work closely with Acme’s logistics personnel in Mesa, AZ.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily pre-trip inspection of transport
  • Be familiar with area and complete trip plans
  • Order required permits when necessary for overweight loads
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and co-workers
  • Anticipate and resolve transportation issues – weather, construction etc.
  • Be able to travel on short notice with occasional overnight travel required
  • Keep compliant with DOT and Federal Regulations
  • Ensure safety equipment and PPE is used properly and that work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner
  • Safely and effectively load, tie-down and unload equipment Skills
  • Must be very organized and detail oriented
  • Knowledge and understanding of operating, loading, and unloading large boom lifts, reach forklifts and large portable air compressors
  • Team player with excellent people skills
  • Clean and current, Class A CDL
  • Ability to work independently following directions given
  • Must be customer centric focused
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience driving tractor / trailer in equipment industry
  • To handle heavy equipment as necessary and lift up to 75 pounds (repetitively) when loading & unloading equipment or installing chains
  • Be able to walk, bend, reach, climb, push, pull, stoop, grasp and lift Applicants are required to pass all company drug testing, submit to a background check and adhere to all OSHA, state, city/municipality safety requirements and training provided by company as required. Education
  • Class A, Commercial Driver’s License Required Personal Traits
