TransCore, (TRN) a subsidiary of Roper Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: ROP) is seeking a full-time System Administrator III to join our team in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Job Description

The System Administrator is accountable for managing, supporting, and designing cloud-based solutions based on the Azure platform. This includes office phones, soft phones, and contact center platforms from RingCentral as well as other IVR vendors.

Duties and Responsibilities (Include but not limited to)
  • Architect and implement the network topology as well as the infrastructure components required to support our Infinity and Integrity applications. This includes virtual servers, Windows Server operating systems, network communication bandwidth required, networking topology (e.g., switches, routers, firewalls, etc.), Azure services, phone & IVR systems, etc.
  • Properly size and procure all the infrastructure components and Azure services. This includes determining RAM requirements, processor and throughput speed, disk space storage requirements for servers, storage requirements, networking components, communication bandwidth, operating systems, virtual machine software, etc.
  • Lead the cost buildup of new systems during the proposal phase which will include all costs for hardware, software, Azure infrastructure, and labor hours required to implement the proposed architecture.
  • Responds to requests via the helpdesk in the most expedient manner possible.
  • Maintains systems related policies and procedures.
  • Script Azure cloud infrastructure deployments for production, test, and development systems.
  • Recommends changes in operating procedures, hardware standards, and software standards as warranted by new technological changes and operating conditions.
  • Maintains Azure cloud infrastructure, user accounts, file/print permissions as required for both internal and remote users.
  • Daily system maintenance review, such as systems log, antivirus server logs, etc.
  • Performs daily backups
  • Provides training and support to less experienced System Administrators.
  • Provides monitoring and reports of the operational status of Azure environment.
  • Interacts with vendors.
  • Installs and configures equipment.
  • Recommends the acquisition or new hardware and/or software as needed.
  • Mentor and guide less senior team members.
  • Assist with system designs and migration of existing applications to cloud-native platforms and services.

Skill Set (Required & Preferred)

  • Minimum of five years sizing, installing, configuring and supporting servers (HP & Dell), Windows Server operating systems, CISCO based networking components (e.g., switches, routers, firewalls, etc.), virtual machines (Hyper-V & VMware), phone & IVR systems etc. (Required)
  • Minimum of three years architect and implementing cloud bases solutions based on the Azure cloud platform. (Required)
  • Minimum of five years working with outside vendors regarding network communications, data center co-location facilities, phone & IVR systems. (Required)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline from an accredited educational institution. (Required)
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time with the potential for an extended stay away from home up to three weeks. (Required)
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter. (Required)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (Required)
  • Microsoft MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure certification
  • Understanding of PCI compliance
  • Understanding of microservices
