Job Description

The role of the Litigation Paralegal is to work with the firm’s attorneys to prepare pleadings and other legal documents, correspondence, and exhibits, format and proof in support of litigation matters for the firm and for other key projects as needed.

❖ Gather facts, documents, and evidence to assist in the initiation of legal action or motion.
❖ Assist with discovery requests and responses; conduct document searches; collect applicable records via authorization or subpoena, organize documents and coordinate document productions, including bates-stamping, redaction, production logs, and e-discovery.
❖ Manage process intake, including reviewing materials from registered agent, acknowledging service and circulating to appropriate points of contact.
❖ Independently manage file creation and maintenance of both hard copy and electronic files.
❖ Maintain and search document repository and databases. ❖ Work with clients to gather and convey information.
❖ Prepare materials for oral arguments, depositions, and other litigation proceedings.
❖ Manage calendaring and tracking of case deadlines throughout the life of the matter. Maintain updated litigation status report and other project updates as required.
❖ Prepare for trials; organize exhibits, witness materials, trial notebooks, and all other supporting documents; coordinate trial logistics. ❖ Support litigation attorney in response to subpoenas and information requests.
❖ Develop, coordinate and implement various projects to support legal and business unit goals and objectives.
❖ Perform research, as requested using available tools and resources.
❖ Analyze processes to improve efficiency and identify administrative processes and procedures in need of revision to ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
❖ Use various software applications, such as spreadsheets, databases, and graphics to assemble reports and presentations.
❖ Prioritize regularly conflicting needs; handle matters expeditiously, proactively, and follow through on projects to successful completion, often working calmly and well with deadline pressures.
❖ File and retrieve documents on federal court database
❖ Review, analyze and summarize client and plaintiff-submitted documents.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience
❖ Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
❖ 5+ years of paralegal experience supporting the litigation function in a public corporation or in a major law firm
❖ Experience coordinating discovery and document collection and production activities, including managing and tracking document preservation notices and understanding of e-discovery concepts and systems.
❖ Qualified candidates must have an in-depth knowledge of Federal court rules and procedures, experience in database, and experience with records collection
❖ Complete understanding and use of paralegal concepts and principles
❖ Understanding of the litigation process and the legal concepts associated with specific legal needs
❖ Experience with or knowledge of intellectual property and data privacy issues.
❖ Paralegal Certificate (from a program approved by the American Bar Association) or JD is preferred.
❖ Experience with Relativity, LexisNexis, CounselLink or equivalent is a plus
❖ Experience in insurance defense litigation is a plus

❖ Strong attention to detail.
❖ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
❖ Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
❖ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
❖ Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment.
❖ Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and ethics.
❖ Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
