Title: Certified Pharmacy Tech
Location: Peoria, IL
Type: 13 weeks Contract position.
Shift: 8 hours day.
The Pharmacy Technician II performs licensed home infusion pharmacy functions including aseptic compounding under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist. As part of an interdisciplinary team interacts with home infusion staff, and physicians to coordinate and perform patient supply management. Distributes and picks up drug, equipment, and supplies to/from patients. Facilitates transfer of delivery paperwork to reimbursement. Handles medical/hazardous waste and responsible for proper disposal. Responsible for equipment cleaning and maintenance. Insures pharmacy area is clean and organized and assists in maintaining upkeep of delivery vehicles
Primary Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities
•Compounds home infusion pharmacy medications aseptically according to policy.
•Delivers/packages medications, equipment, and supplies to patients includes common carriers.
•Assembles patient admission documents. Organizes/routes delivery paperwork includes generating charge reports.
•Performs deliveries and pick-ups of supplies and equipment and cleaning and functional tests of equipment.
•Maintains all pharmacy files according to set procedures. Rotates pharmacy inventory and identifies outdated product.
•Assembles patient deliveries. Assists and organizes daily delivery schedule/routes.
•Maintains cleanliness and order of dirty DME room. Cleans and tests infusion and enteral feeding pumps. Ensures preventive maintenance for infusion and enteral feeding pumps.
•Maintains cleanliness and order of clean room, pharmacy supply areas, delivery vehicles, and equipment cleaning/testing areas.
•Maintains delivery vehicle emergency supply kits. Ensures preventive maintenance for delivery vehicles completed as per policy.
•Interacts with patients and families/caregivers in a manner that will produce positive patient outcome and satisfaction results.
•High school diploma or GED.
•Maintains a valid driver’s license.
•Provides own transportation and auto insurance and abides by all laws, rules and recommendations for safe driving while on duty.
•Must successfully complete Aseptic Preparation of Parental Products and Safe Handling of cytotoxic and Hazardous Drugs competency tests with a 70% or above score during 90 day probationary period. .
•Active Pharmacy Technician License in Illinois
•Must be certified by passing the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) examination
