THE POSITION:
A plaintiff's litigation firm seeks an experienced paralegal in Los Angeles. As an integral part of the team, you will perform legal filing in state and federal court, and provide assistance with drafting pleadings, propounding, answering discovery, drafting demand letters, ordering and reviewing medical records, preparation for trials, and handling client calls. The successful candidate is time efficient, organized, detail oriented, able to prioritize duties, and adheres to company policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities include:
- Draft and send correspondence
- Order and review medical records and medical bills
- Draft pleadings, discovery, and demand letters
- Prepare legal documents
- Communicate with the court and other attorneys
- Provide administrative and clerical support as needed
- Prepare trial binders
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
- CA B&P Code 6450 Paralegal Certificate preferred.
- At least 3 years of litigation experience
- Plaintiff personal injury experience is strongly preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with federal and state codes of civil procedure and litigation processes
- Solid communication skills both written and verbal
- Resourceful and proactive in dealing with internal and external issues
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and work under pressure
- Ability to negotiate and problem solve
