Job Requirements of Mentor Center Administrator:
Assesses all education staff to identify strengths, areas of needed support, and which staff would benefit most from intensive coaching.
Coach, support, and lead classroom staff on data-based decision-making that will raise school readiness skills, increase teacher effectiveness, promote practice, and share resources to ensure that skill-building and knowledge are integrated into the entire classroom.
Plans with Children’s Services Specialists and Center Administrators to ensure lesson plans meet the goals of Creative Curriculum and are consistent with Head Start Performance Standards.
Work within the classroom setting to model best practices, activities, and teaching strategies for classroom staff that facilitate the development of young children.
Propose, plan, and deliver professional development opportunities for teaching staff.
Adhere to an established curriculum and daily schedule at each assignment to maintain the highest quality programming and stable classroom environment for children in the absence of their regular teaching staff.
Be prepared with developmentally appropriate transition, child management strategies and ideas for activities that work well across the interest and ability levels of children birth to 5 including children with disabilities.
Easily adapt to a variety of environments, daily schedules, and personalities. Recognize and respect the differences in approaches to teaching, classroom schedules, and other variables that exist from center to center.
Incorporate any positive new ideas for curriculum, child management, etc. seen in the various centers into the teaching strategies of the mentor position.
Actively participates in all other required meetings and trainings for the program.
Provide ongoing communication between the Head Start Director, Children’s Services director, and any other relevant staff.
Additional Responsibilities
Performs other duties and assignments as directed by the Children’s Services Director.

Mentor Center Administrator
Characteristics of Work
Under the direction of the Associate Vice President of Head Start and Early Childhood Programs, the Center Administrator Mentor will provide mentoring to classroom staff through guidance, coaching, modeling, training, support, and information in the following areas (CLASS, TS Gold, Classroom Management, Curriculum planning/lesson plans, classroom set up, Transitions, and other areas as identified). This position works closely with the teaching staff and the Children’s Services Director to coordinate classroom-related activities that support the Professional Development of staff and contribute to successful child outcomes.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field two (2) years experience of having worked with preschool children and families in a child development program. Ability to communicate effectively.
Supervisory Control
The Mentor Coach is directly responsible to the Children’s Services Director, who is responsible to the Vice President, Head Start and Early Childhood Programs. The Mentor Coach will be evaluated semi-annually by the Children’s Services Director. The evaluation will be conducted through a process of performance monitoring and progress reviews. The evaluation will be reviewed and approved by the Vice President, of Head Start and Early Childhood Programs.
