We are a medium sized local company looking to hire a full time I.T. Help Desk Specialist

Summary


Responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, or software. Responds to queries, runs diagnostic programs, isolates problem, and determines and implements solution.


Primary responsibilities


  • Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware.
  • Respond to queries either in person or over the phone.
  • Write training manuals.
  • Create reports using Excel, Word, Access, or report builder as needed
  • Train computer users.
  • Maintain daily performance of computer systems.
  • Ask questions to determine nature of problem.
  • Walk users through problem-solving process.
  • Install, modify, and repair computer hardware and software.
  • Run diagnostic programs to resolve problems.
  • Be able to work with outside sources to resolve issues if needed.
  • Resolve technical problems with Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), Wi-Fi and other systems.
  • Install computer peripherals for users.
  • Follow up with users to ensure issue has been resolved.
  • Resolve or complete any task as directed by management.

Job Description

·         We are seeking an IT Help Desk Specialist.

The role of a Help Desk specialist is to provide technical software, hardware and network problem resolutions and make independent decisions by performing question/problem diagnosis as calls and tickets as they are received.


 


·         Support is provided desk side with users and by phone. Other responsibilities include password resets, e-mail requests, Fax, Web requests, creating reports and direct requests for Help Desk support. This role will document, research, identify and attempt to solve technical problems on initial call and/or triage where appropriate for resolution. This role will document and track support activity and clearly communicate technical solutions in a user friendly professional manner. This role uses expertise in customer service and technical knowledge gained from prior experience to resolve issues surrounding installation, applications/systems, functionality, and training on software and/or hardware products as it relates to each users environment. Develops working relationships with each department to support the help desk goal of providing users with a professional and reliable response.



Required Skills:





·         Re-enable and unlock accounts, reset passwords and change OU's.


·         Experience with Windows 10 Operating Systems, MS Office 365, and Windows Server 2012 or greater


 


·         Experience with Microsoft Exchange


·         Experience with Active Directory


 


·         Experience with setting up and maintaining servers, virtual servers, and workstations


 


·         Experience working with Vmware


·         Experience with a Help Desk Ticketing system.


 


·         An understanding of networking and routing (Cisco, HP, Barracuda, etc)


·         Ability to present complicated technical issues with clear easy-to-follow solutions and path forward.


 


·         Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills


·         Ability to document, research, identify and attempt to solve technical problems on initial call and/or triage where appropriate for resolution.


 


·         Consult with Technical Advisors and IT professionals when the appropriate course of action is unclear.


·         Ability to utilize technical knowledge gained from prior experience to resolve issues surrounding installation, applications/systems, functionality, and training on software and/or hardware products as it relates to users environment.


·         Be able to write training manuals, documentation, and procedures relating to software and hardware.


 


·         Be able to retrieve data from various sources like point of sale software or databases, and create reports as requested by management using Excel, Word, or Access.


 


·         Create reports as needed using point of sale software report builder
