Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Pass/Fail exam during orientation. - Must score 90% to pass or face termination. - Driver's license required for eligibility. - Ability to read and interpret telemetry. - Compliance with fingernail policy. Description: This unit provides care for adult patients, including those with mixed medical/surgical, cardiac, and stroke diagnoses. RNs on this unit are required to titrate drips, including titratable medications such as heparin, octreotide, and insulin. There is a charge nurse available on each shift, and they will take an assignment. The unit is supported by nurse aids/patient care techs with a 1:14 ratio. Specialty equipment available includes code carts, LUCAS machines, hoyer lifts, and sit-to-stand devices. Shift scheduling is managed by unit schedulers, and weekend work is required every other weekend. Holiday shifts will rotate with permanent staff. Floating to medical/surgical and all areas of the facility is required based on capabilities, including ICU and emergency departments. Navy blue scrubs are the required dress code. The first week consists of classroom orientation, followed by two 12-hour shifts for further training. We seek positive nurses who are committed to teamwork and managing high patient flow, including frequent admissions, transfers, and discharges. A unit secretary will be available 2-3 days per week, along with a stocking clerk 3 days per week. All requests for time off must be stated upfront, and additional time off will not be approved after submission. The facility reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts within a 13-week assignment. The charting system used is EPIC. A BSN is not required for this position. This is an acute care setting.
