Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 to 2 years Telemetry Experience Required License: Nursing license required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Telemetry experience Cardiac monitoring skills IV therapy and phlebotomy skills Description: The role involves providing care in a busy Progressive Care Unit. The nurse will manage a patient ratio of 1:5, with potential flexibility to 1:6 when necessary. Experience in telemetry is required, as the unit cares for intermediate medical patients and surgical overflow. Patients may include those with various diagnoses related to intermediate medical needs and specific surgical procedures. The unit comprises 24 beds and is essential for patient throughput from the Emergency Department and Operating Room. The nurse will be expected to perform cardiac monitoring and manage dysrhythmias. Skills in administration and management of various IV therapies are needed. Experience in the care of patients with feeding tubes and following critical protocols is essential. Knowledge of wound care and management is required. Participation in a collaborative interdisciplinary team is expected. Regular floating to other departments may be necessary to meet facility needs. Weekend shifts are mandatory over a six-week schedule, totaling eight shifts. Previous charge experience is preferred but not necessary. The nursing professional will contribute to the overall patient care experience, ensuring high-quality standards.
