Job Title: RN - Newborn Nursery Profession: RN Specialty: Newborn Nursery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: RN License Certifications: N/A Must-Have: 1 year of Newborn or NICU experience Description: This is a contract position for an RN specializing in the Newborn Nursery. The shift will be from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. No call is required for this position. The unit has a total of 40 beds. Approximately 40 staff members work in the unit, including RNs and support staff. Staffing on day shift typically consists of 1 charge nurse and 5 RNs, with support from 1 unit clerk. During the week, there are usually 7 staff members available. On weekends, staffing typically consists of 5 to 6 members. Night shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse and 4 RNs, with a total of approximately 5 staff during the week and 4 on weekends. Patient ratios are generally 1:5 to 1:6. The unit utilizes EMR systems including CPN and Meditech. Permanent positions are available on the unit for those interested. The ideal candidate should be a multi-tasker who can work at a fast pace and adapt quickly to changing situations. Team orientation is crucial, as the unit thrives on collaboration among staff members. Dress code requires navy blue scrubs.
