This role is repetitive tasks and requires attention detail
Someone that has previous line job experience will dwell (line cooks, assembly line workers)
3-D printing experience not necessary (will provide training)
90% of the job will be lab work

Work days/hours: Monday through Friday (Flexible on hours start time can be 7am or 8am or 9am)

Position Description

Position Title:
3D Model Finisher 3D Printing (Contractor) Incumbent:

General Function:

The 3D Model Finisher is an essential part of s Digital Engineering (DE) 3D Printing & Prototyping team and will have the opportunity contribute the advancement of s next-generation medical products and enhance the current product portfolio. Under the general direction of 3D Printing & Prototyping management, the 3D Model Finisher will provide high-quality finished 3D printed models and/or components/fixtures business customers in a safe and timely manner. This role is ideal for a highly motivated individual thrives in a dynamic environment and can adapt quickly.

Responsibilities:
Clean 3D Printed models according defined standard operating procedures.
Hand finish 3D printed models using defined techniques while maintaining feature geometry and checking tolerances on key dimensions.
Use precision measurement devices (i.e. digital calipers, GOM) ensure dimensional accuracy.
Operate 3D Printing equipment as needed; particularly when performing routine and rotational maintenance on a regular schedule produce highly accurate medical device prototypes in a timely manner.
Maintain proficiency in viewing model files using CAD software (i.e. Magics by Materialize).
Maintain finishing supplies in the laboratory.
Evaluation of special supplies, techniques, and equipment that may be beneficial for quality model finishing.
Perform work following standard operating procedures.
Work in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices, observe all T Safety and Quality Standards, and maintain laboratory notebook according T Standard Operating Procedures.
Wear proper safety equipment where required.
Under the direction of 3D Printing & Prototyping Manager, contribute as needed in the R&D of 3D printing applications.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma is required.
Experience with model finishing or machining activities or a combination of equivalent education and experience is preferred.
Experience with 3D printing is a strong plus; examples: Stereolithography (SLA), DLP, PolyJet 3D Printing, and Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF).
Proficiency with CAD software is preferred but not required; candidates with strong computer skills and a willingness learn will be considered. Organized and time-oriented individual with the ability and drive contribute towards the quick turn-around time on finished models while ensuring fine detail and accuracy.
Open exploring new techniques related t3D Printing & Prototyping or Digital Engineering-related areas.
Proven ability work successfully in both team and individual situations.
Clear verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able lift up t40 lbs.

Must be a Self-Starter.
The ideal candidate is pro-active (i.e. If they finish up their current work, they should be asking for the next task and eventually capable of recognizing what those next tasks are).
Must be able operate well in a team environment.
Candidates must have clear communication skills (written & verbal skills).
The ideal candidate will not be afraid task questions or alert others of problems.
Attention detail is extremely important.
The job revolves around the finishing processing of small plastic prototypes (i.e. using sandpaper and files, performing tasks such as painting and dying).
Candidates when joy detailed handwork, such as model building or arts and crafts, may excel in this role. The ideal candidate should be able identify when there is a problem with a model and be able alert the responsible team members that problem.
Should enjoy working with their hands
This position requires an individual clean, stand and handle plastic prototypes with their hands while following all safety procedures and wearing proper PPE.
Should be open exploring new techniques enhance post processing capabilities.
3D Printing / Additive Manufacturing is an ever-evolving group of technologies. That means the way we post process parts does evolve as well.
The ideal candidate will be open change and willing explore these new techniques.
If a candidate brings new finishing techniques / ideas with them, that is a bonus.

Judgement & Independent Decision-Making
Demonstrates Sound judgment and the ability make independent decisions when faced with routine challenges or unexpected issues during model finishing and prototyping tasks.
Chemical Handling (IPA)
Comfortable working with chemicals such as isopropyl alcohol (IPA) as part of routine cleaning and finishing processes, while following all safety protocols.
Comfort with Messy Work
Willing engage in hands-on, occasionally messy tasks such as sanding, dyeing, and painting prototypes, cleaning up spilled resin, while maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
Standing for Long Periods
Able stand for extended periods while performing finishing tasks and operating equipment in a lab environment.
