The Supervisor – Slot Technical is responsible for overseeing Slot Technicians during assigned shifts, ensuring the smooth operation, repair, and maintenance of slot machines and gaming devices. This position performs complex electronic diagnostics and repair work while also managing team schedules, enforcing departmental policies, and supporting a safe and efficient technical operation on the casino floor and in the shop.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads and supervises Slot Technicians in the maintenance, repair, and modification of slot machines and peripheral equipment.
- Performs advanced diagnostic and repair functions, including board-level troubleshooting and component-level replacement.
- Oversees the installation, removal, conversion, and preventive maintenance of slot machines and devices in a live gaming environment.
- Trains team members in troubleshooting methods and proper use of diagnostic tools including multimeters and schematic diagrams.
- Plans, schedules, and manages team member work shifts, time-off requests, and leave to ensure appropriate staffing coverage.
- Administers policies and procedures; documents team performance, conducts annual reviews, and issues disciplinary action when necessary.
- Monitors and supports guest service on the gaming floor, responding to minor machine tilts, jams, and guest concerns.
- Promotes teamwork and professional development while maintaining a positive work environment.
- Ensures compliance with internal controls, safety guidelines, and all applicable gaming regulations.
- Reports safety hazards or operational concerns to department leadership promptly.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance or support to other team members.
- Recruits, selects, orients, and trains Slot Technician team members.
- Maintains a safe, secure, and legally compliant work environment.
- Sets clear job expectations and monitors performance standards.
- Provides coaching, counseling, and professional feedback to staff.
- Conducts performance evaluations and initiates corrective actions as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Extensive knowledge of Class II and Class III gaming machines and components.
- Advanced understanding of electronics, AC/DC fundamentals, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Proficiency in reading schematics, operating diagnostic equipment, and performing board-level repairs.
- Familiarity with coin-in, player tracking, and data management systems preferred.
- Competence in PC-based software and office applications required.
- Ability to lead by example, maintain confidentiality, and promote high professional standards.
- Strong guest service orientation and ability to foster teamwork.
- Experience with metal fabrication and basic shop operations is a plus.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Associate’s degree in Electronics, Information Technology, or a related technical field is preferred.
- Certifications from slot machine manufacturers (e.g., IGT, Aristocrat, Bally, Konami) are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 4–6 years of experience in slot machine repair and technical support, including at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Strong knowledge of slot machine hardware, software, troubleshooting methods, and preventative maintenance.
- Proven ability to oversee a team of technicians, coordinate repairs, machine moves, and software updates.
- Experience maintaining detailed service records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and managing inventory of parts and tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills in a fast-paced casino environment.
- Prior experience in a casino or tribal gaming environment is required.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license through the Morongo Gaming Agency, which includes successfully passing a comprehensive background investigation.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

- Lifting and Carrying: Frequently lifts and carries slot machine components, diagnostic tools, and replacement parts weighing up to 50 pounds; may assist with full machine moves or large-scale installations.
- Manual Dexterity: Continuously uses hands and fingers to perform complex repairs, manipulate wiring, calibrate sensitive components, and handle intricate tools and equipment with precision.
- Mobility: Frequently walks, stands, bends, kneels, crouches, and climbs ladders or into confined machine spaces throughout the casino floor and workshop areas during inspections, repairs, and installations.
- Stationary Work: Occasionally remains seated while completing administrative duties such as repair logs, scheduling, and compliance reporting at a desk or workstation.
- Tool Operation: Regular use of multimeters, handheld diagnostic devices, soldering irons, hand and power tools, EGM management software, and office equipment; responsible for ensuring team adherence to tool safety protocols and maintenance standards.
- Visual Acuity: Requires excellent near and far vision to inspect electronic components, read schematics, identify malfunctions, and complete accurate repair records and compliance documentation.
- Working Conditions: Routinely operates on the casino floor and in technical service areas; frequent exposure to bright flashing lights, loud noise, electronic equipment, confined workspaces, and a smoking environment throughout the gaming property.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.
WORKING HOURS:
Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
