Shift: Rotating weekly schedules
- Tuesday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Tuesday–Friday: 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Includes on-call responsibilities and weekend call coverage
Pay Rate:$38 – $48 per hour (Local to Travel Pay Range)
Position Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician I is responsible for the decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and distribution of medical and surgical instruments and equipment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring patient safety by adhering to strict infection control standards and supporting clinical teams with timely availability of sterile supplies.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow ANSI/AAMI standards, manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs), SOPs, and internal work instructions
- Perform decontamination of surgical instruments using proper PPE and protocols
- Disassemble, clean, and reassemble complex surgical instruments
- Assemble and package instrument trays accurately per established guidelines
- Operate sterilizers, washers, and related processing equipment safely
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and defects
- Report and document missing or damaged instruments per procedures
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, tracking, and inventory
- Handle instruments and equipment carefully to prevent damage
- Complete required computer documentation and paperwork
- Monitor inventory levels of instruments and supplies
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of processing equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and decontamination areas
- Adhere to quality standards and infection control policies
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and operational staff
- Provide feedback to improve workflow and processes
- Participate in ongoing training to maintain certifications and competencies
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in sterile processing
- Current SPD / CRCST certification required
