Stage 1 Case Management - Eligibility Specialist

100% Onsite - Location: Los Angeles, CA 90056

What We're Looking For:

Under general supervision, the Family Services (Eligibility) Specialist will determine eligibility and assist parents eligible under the California subsidized child care programs gain access to child care programs and services. All duties and responsibilities are performed in accordance to pertinent contractual obligations and department standards. Assistance provided by the Family Services (Eligibility) Specialist includes the delivery of quality services in the following areas:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determine eligibility, process enrollment (including families transferred from partnering agencies or other funding sources), and complete certification of families qualified for subsidized child care within designated time frames, in accordance to agency policy.

  • Conduct appointments to assess family eligibility, collect documents, explain program rules, and assess family's need for program referrals.

  • Schedule and conduct timely interviews to facilitate family enrollment or continuation of the services.

  • Effectively manage client activities and changes for a caseload of approximately of 175+ clients, ensuring the highest levels of quality, accuracy, and program integrity. When necessary, collaborate with Fraud Prevention Unit to maintain program integrity.

  • Complete case transfer requests for out-of-agency transfers, as necessary. Complete transfers to other program funding sources, as necessary.

  • Provide customer service to families, providers and internal customers. Troubleshoot and provide technical assistance as needed to resolve inquiries and concerns.

  • Provide supportive referral services to families and providers as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

  • Bachelor of Science/Arts degree from an accredited university or equivalent preferred

  • Experience working with families receiving subsidized childcare or other social support services preferred

  • Related work experience in case management/human services/client/vendor management/child development preferred

  • Knowledge and competency with using County Welfare Department applications and other database applications

  • Knowledge of County, State and Federal program requirements for Alternative Payment and Child Care Subsidy Programs

  • Ability to analyze and problem solve, as well as accuracy and an ability to produce in a timely manner.

  • Ability to quickly learn County, State and Federal provider (parent) contract requirements for Alternative Payment and Child Care Subsidy Programs.

  • Ability to work with diverse and underserved populations

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • A minimum of one year of experience in the areas of customer service, human services, social services, administrative/clerical support or a related field.
