The global team also plays a critical role as the primary collaboration point for Product & Technology with Disney's EMEA, APAC, and LATAM regional business teams.\n \nRole Overview\n \nContent Platform Engineering is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build and innovate a world class content platform to support content delivery for brands such as Disney plus, ESPN+, Hulu, ABC, Marvel and Star Wars. Our team of talented software engineers builds and manages a diverse suite of products and services that advance Disney's media supply chain powering the some of the most watched entertainment content. You will help to define platform capabilities, designing and implementing product solutions using solid design principles, while balancing complexity, speed of implementation, and expandability.\n \nResponsibilities:\n \nYou will be building scalable, maintainable, and well-tested software solutions which are flexible to meet the requirements of multiple customers and stakeholders. You will:\n\n Collaborate with other software engineers and cross-functional teams\n \n\n Work independently to design, build, test, and deploy high quality software solutions\n \n\n Provide technical guidance and evangelize best practices. \n \n\n Maintain a deep understanding of our core systems and how they interact with upstream and downstream dependencies. \n \n\n Contribute and review code, set standards, and work with engineers to ensure product and design specifications are met \n \n\n Responsible for fundamental platform performance, scalability, and resiliency \n \n\n Partner with stakeholders to refine requirements, and propose solutions to problems that span multiple teams \n \n\n Contribute to cross-functional troubleshooting of complex issues as needed \n \n\n Troubleshoot issues and fix defects\n \n\n Mentor junior engineers and conduct code reviews\n \n\n \nBasic Qualifications \n\n BS Computer Science or related technical discipline or its equivalent\n \n\n 5+ years related experience designing backend architectures and delivering backend applications in a production environment.\n \n\n Experience with common backend technologies such as Java, GraphQL, REST APIs, microservice architectures, async programming\n \n\n Experience with architecture and delivery of high volume, cached, fault tolerant, multi-threaded scalable systems \n \n\n Experience with a wide range of data store technologies such as MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, Postgres, and DynamoDB\n \n\n Experience with Cloud-based technologies such as AWS Lambda, EC2, S3, SQS, Step Functions, and Fargate\n \n\n Experience with build and deployment technologies such as Docker, Gitlab-CI, Terraform/Cloud formation, and Jenkins\n \n\n Experience in Agile/Scrum methodology\n \n\n Team player with strong oral and written communications skills\n \n\n Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies\n \n\n Expertise with full lifecycle of application development, including best practices of unit testing, code reviews, documentation, etc. \n \n\n Strong communication skills and attention to detail \n \n\n \nPreferred Qualifications \n\n Previous work experience in media distribution \n \n\n Experience working with vendor teams to deliver high quality results \n \n\n Knowledge of performance testing and application profiling \n \n\n Strong curiosity about how Disney delivers the Magic and a desire to be a part of it \n \n\n Expert in Java\n \n\n Expert in AWS, Azure, or GCP\n \n\n \n#DISNEYTECH\n \nThe hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $136,100 to $182,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
