Job Summary


The Project Manager works independently in managing multiple projects as they relate to Cerner EHR Conversions, Information Systems and Database Management. Should have experience with multi-facility design, planning, management and execution of complex projects. The Cerner Project Manager will be responsible for technical components of system projects involving department or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of expert level customer support. In addition, the Cerner Project Manager must have full knowledge of all phases of HER Conversions, deployment and support as well. This individual should be comfortable acting as Project leader and managing vendor resources to ensure projects are completed on time and in full. Complies with Corporate and Department policies and procedures and has excellent communication skills.


Essential Functions


+ Requires a team leader that is able to coordinate the efforts of multiple constituencies. Implementation requires the ability to manage hospital executives and physician expectations working with the local medical staff - nurses and technicians, working with local technical resources - systems analysts and programmers and working with vendor support staff

+ Comfortable in a matrix organization

+ Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements

+ Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities

+ Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope

+ Effectively applies client methodology and enforces project standards

+ Prepares for audits and quality assurance procedures

+ Minimizes and manages client exposure and risk on project

+ Coordinates and maintains all documentation, communication and knows where to look when activities need to be escalated

+ Ensures project management standards are utilized throughout the projects

+ Serves as an escalation point for project issues reported incidents or for assigned projects

+ Facilitates team and client meetings effectively and regularly

+ Delivers engaging, informative, well-organized presentations

+ Develop or update project plans for Cerner projects including information such as project objectives, technologies, systems, information specifications, schedules, funding, and staffing

+ Manage project execution to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and scope

+ Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends

+ Review trends and make suggestions to improve task hit rates and baseline dates

+ Establish and execute a project communication plan


Qualifications


+ Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required

+ Minimum three years’ experience leading and managing large, complex Cerner related projects

+ Experience in coordinating multiple projects and a demonstrated proven ability and high degree of performance

+ Experience in leading projects

+ Experience with HMS products, architectures and processes preferred


Licenses and Certifications


+ Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)-PMI preferred
