Registered Nurse (RN) Vent Unit
Oneida NY 

Schedule:

  • 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Every Other Weekend Required
  • Holiday and On-Call Rotation Based on Unit Needs

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Vent Unit team. The ideal candidate will have prior Ventilator or ICU experience and the ability to provide high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced long-term care or sub-acute environment. The RN will be responsible for medication administration, supervising LPNs and CNAs, coordinating resident care, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure excellent patient outcomes.

Unit Details:

  • 11-Bed Ventilator Unit
  • Respiratory Therapist (RRT) on the floor
  • Lead RRT available on-site
  • RN responsible for medication administration and oversight of support staff

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care to residents as prescribed by physicians and according to care plans.
  • Administer and monitor medications and treatments safely and accurately.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to LPNs and CNAs while ensuring completion of assigned responsibilities.
  • Monitor residents' conditions and use nursing judgment to identify and report changes appropriately.
  • Collaborate with physicians regarding resident rounds, orders, consultations, and care updates.
  • Update staff regarding changes to resident care plans and treatment needs.
  • Input physician orders into the electronic system and communicate with pharmacy as needed.
  • Observe, document, and report vital signs, incidents, accidents, and resident status changes.
  • Assist with wound care, personal hygiene, bathing, dining assistance, and incontinence care as needed.
  • Schedule resident appointments and communicate details with families or responsible parties.
  • Participate in resident care planning, discharge planning, IDT meetings, and family conferences.
  • Ensure compliance with policies regarding narcotics, controlled substances, and documentation procedures.
  • Maintain a safe environment and report emergencies, abuse, neglect, or safety concerns immediately.
  • Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members to ensure quality resident care.

Qualifications:

  • Active New York Registered Nurse (RN) License required.
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required.
  • Ventilator Unit or ICU experience required.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Strong leadership, assessment, and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented healthcare environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in long-term care, sub-acute rehab, or skilled nursing settings.
  • Experience supervising LPNs and CNAs.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and medication administration systems.
  • Strong patient care, organizational, and multitasking skills.
