Physical
Stamina -- Capable of standing/walking for long periods of time (2-4 hours).
Strength -- Minimally capable of:
Free lifting 35 pounds.
Pushing stretchers/beds under loads of 200-500 pounds, with assistance.
Lifting patients up to 250 pounds with staff/mechanical assistance.
Reflexes/Agility -- Minimally capable of:
Frequent stooping, kneeling, reaching, bending, during 8-12 hour shift.
Responding to sudden, unexpected movements of patients.
Responding quickly and effectively to emergencies; i.e., chemical spills (medications, IV fluids), infectious exposures, patient contact, needles/syringes, waste handling (bodily fluids), medical equipment.
Hearing and Visual Acuity
Capable of hearing and responding to patients/staff/others who cannot be visualized.
Visual acuity/color perception that permits patient assessment, monitoring devices/readouts.
Dexterity -- Handwriting skills to facilitate documentation for patient care, handling of equipment and laboratory specimens.
CPR -- Has the ability to combine the necessary physical requirements to perform CPR as appropriate.
