Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency / Acute Care

Desired Location: Wrangell, AS

Pay Range - $99,000 to $110,000 Yearly


Job Overview

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency / Acute Care to provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care across all age groups in an acute and emergent care setting. This role requires strong clinical judgment, independence in decision-making, and the ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.


Compensation & Incentives

  • Sign-On Bonus: Up to $25,000 for qualified candidates

  • Relocation Assistance: Up to $10,000

  • Annual Geographic Differential: Up to $25,000 in addition to base pay


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and coordinate comprehensive nursing care for patients in emergency and acute care settings

  • Make independent clinical decisions during assigned shifts and remain fully accountable for patient outcomes

  • Assess patient conditions, prioritize care, and initiate appropriate interventions in emergent situations

  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with provider orders and nursing standards

  • Supervise and appropriately delegate tasks to CNAs, Techs, and support staff

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the electronic medical record

  • Communicate effectively with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families

  • Ensure compliance with infection control practices, patient safety standards, and regulatory guidelines

  • Protect patient rights related to privacy, dignity, and equitable treatment

  • Monitor patient responses to medications, treatments, and procedures and report changes promptly

  • Participate in shift handoffs, staff meetings, training sessions, and departmental initiatives


Clinical & Administrative Duties

  • Complete admission, discharge, and transfer documentation

  • Transcribe and implement physician orders accurately

  • Respond to emergencies and initiate appropriate emergency measures

  • Maintain adequate inventory of medications, supplies, and equipment

  • Report incidents, accidents, and unsafe conditions per policy

  • Assist with development and implementation of nursing policies, procedures, and care standards

  • Support a positive, respectful, and collaborative care environment


Education, Certifications & Licensure

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (ADN, BSN, or Diploma)

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in a U.S. state

    • Must apply for state licensure prior to start date if required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – required

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – required or obtainable within 6 months

  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) – preferred (required for ED roles)

  • Clinical Competency Assessment (within 3 months of hire and every 3 years)

  • High-Risk Competency (within 3 months of hire and annually)


Experience Requirements

  • No minimum experience required

  • Acute care, emergency department, or long-term care experience preferred


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of nursing practices, emergency response, and patient care standards

  • Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to supervise staff and work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams

  • Professional demeanor with patients, families, and colleagues in high-stress environments


Physical & Working Conditions

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the shift

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs

  • Emotional resilience and ability to manage mental and emotional stress

  • Ability to work effectively with ill, injured, elderly, and emotionally distressed patients
