Registered Nurse - General Surgery/Trauma Practice

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

Join a collaborative and fast-paced General Surgery/Trauma Practice that provides comprehensive outpatient care for surgical and trauma patients across the continuum. Our team partners closely with surgeons, advanced practitioners, nurses, and support staff to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care focused on clinical excellence, care coordination, patient education, and positive outcomes.

  • Baystate Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our General Surgery/Trauma practice team.
  • This ambulatory nursing role provides direct patient care, telephone triage, patient education, care coordination, and clinical support for trauma and surgical patients across the continuum of care.
  • The RN works collaboratively with providers, clinical staff, patients, and families to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while supporting safety, efficiency, and positive patient outcomes.
  • Perform patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care
  • Provide telephone triage and clinical support for trauma and general surgery patients
  • Administer and monitor therapeutic interventions and treatments
  • Coordinate care with providers and interdisciplinary team members
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, procedures, medications, and follow-up care
  • Support transitions of care and identify barriers impacting patient outcomes
  • Promote patient safety and participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Mentor and support new staff, nursing students, and team members as appropriate
  • Maintain clinical competencies and compliance with regulatory standards

SCHEDULE:

  • Full-time, 40 hours/week
  • 10-hour shifts, Monday-Friday

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Massachusetts RN license required
  • BLS CPR certification required
  • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience preferred; 10-months required
  • Previous experience in trauma, surgery, Med-Surg, ambulatory care, OR, PACU, or related specialty preferred
  • Strong triage, assessment, communication, and care coordination skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care and teamwork

Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
