Position Summary/ Department Summary:- The Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Boston Children’s Hospital seeks qualified Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners to join our multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:- Providing care to infants, children, and adults with critical illness.
- Collaborating with supervising physicians to conduct patient assessments and medical history, physical exams, and diagnose health and developmental problems.
- Caring for patients with both acute and chronic disease by managing therapeutic regimens according to approved guidelines.
- Participating in intensive care unit medical rounds, including the presentation of clinical information and the progress and management of patients.
- Assisting with establishing a treatment plan and being included in all teaching activities conducted by the MSICU attending staff.
- Participating in ongoing research in the MSICU and offering expertise as a consultant and educator to other staff.
- Ability to work full time, 40 hours/week, day/night rotation with every 3rd weekend, 12-hour shifts. Opportunities also available for permanent nights with every 4th weekend rotation.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:- Master of Science in Nursing or Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies
Experience:- 1 year of critical care experience preferred.
- Will consider new graduates with previous relevant experience.
- Solid medical knowledge base for critical care medicine.
- Critical thinking skills and adaptability.
- Excellent communication skills and work collaboratively with medical and surgical colleagues, staff, and trainees.
Licensure/ Certifications:- A current Massachusetts NP or PA license required
