Job Summary
The Extern II completes work in accordance with standards of the specific environment under the direct supervision of the RN or Clinical Manager. Provides expanded clinical experience for senior professional (RN) nursing sutdents and to assist the Registered Nursing staff by performing patient care activites, which includes participating in patient care planning, implementation, observation, and evaluation, as well as reporting significatnt observations to a Registered Nurse. The Extern II will have a 1:1 preceptorship with a Registered Nurse. The Extern II is required to provide an excellent patient experience consistent with Relationship-Based Care. Follows established policy and procedures as directed. Performs all job duties in a safe manner with respect to safety and to self and others. Equipment and supplies maintained, monitored, and malfunctions reported to manager. Uses time management and flexibility in organizing and prioritizing workload to provide optimal service to the department and network. Accountable for performing and providing quality patient care in the specific environment. Effectively performs direct patient care tasks to assist licensed personnel. Recognize and respect cultural and spiritual differences and demonstrate culturally competent care.

Minimum Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.). Currently enrolled in accredited registered nursing program - in their Senior Year of the program and must pass all senior courses to remain in the program.
Certifications: Active CPR
Preferred Requirements
Experience: Knowledge of hospital environment desired. Previous hospital and/or health care related experience preferred. Must be able to work variable shifts, holidays and/or weekends. Must be able to perform required duties, including lifting and transferring, using proper body mechanics. Basic computer skills
