Pay Rate: $22 per hour

Summary:

  • Day Shift: M – F, Day hours with a little flexibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide secretarial and clinical support to physicians and surgeons in a faculty practice setting.
  • Schedule appointments for patients.
  • Take detailed clinical phone messages for physicians or advanced allied healthcare providers.
  • Acquire insurance authorizations for procedures and tests ordered by attending physicians.
  • Enter orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) system or prepare prescription refill requests for physician review and approval.
  • Maintain logging system as required for tracking test results.
  • Assist in the maintenance of medical charts and/or electronic medical records (filing, Op Reports, test results, home care forms).
  • Schedule surgeries/procedures or work with Surgical Coordinator to verify times with patients; prepare charts, pre-admissions, and consent forms as necessary.
  • If qualified, perform Medical Assistant duties such as venipuncture, EKGs, and assisting patients with walking, transferring, and dressing.
  • Assist physicians with various procedures, take vital signs, relay instructions to patients and families, and provide pertinent information.
  • Retrieve physician correspondence from dictation service and edit where necessary.
  • Prepare physicians' mail correspondence.
  • Function as a medical scribe.
  • Compile documents for surgical billing packages.
  • Maintain, adjust, and confirm patient office schedule.
  • Help direct patient flow during practice hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 2 years of related experience.
  • Certified Medical Assistant required if performing Medical Assistant duties.
  • Proficient in medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.

  • Knowledge of electronic medical record and/or billing systems preferred, but not required.
