Overview:
The Lab Courier transports and delivers medical specimens, documents, packages and supplies timely and effectively. This position requires flexibility, reliability, organization and a good knowledge of the geographical area.
Position Type: Casual
Hours: Approximately 18 hours per week
Compensation: $16.00 per hour
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
- Deliver medical specimens, documents, packages, supplies, and other items to destinations in a timely and effective manner.
- Load vehicles with items being delivered, ensuring items are loaded correctly and taking precautions with hazardous goods.
- Unload and sort items collected along delivery routes.
- Receive messages or materials to be delivered, and information on recipients, such as names, addresses, telephone numbers, and delivery instructions, communicated via telephone, two-way radio, or in person.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes for delivering goods.
- Adherence to compliance and completion of compliance training.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Must possess a valid United States driver’s license (probationary not acceptable) and an acceptable driving safety record.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must have valid and current Driver’s license to operate a company or personal vehicle, with current auto insurance while on company hours.
- Must be able to successfully meet driver safety standards.
- Must be reliable and able to work flexible schedules in a 24-hour environment.
- Must have basic understanding of computers.
- Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and the public.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team.
- Ability to use time productively and contribute to high levels of company operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
Physical Demands
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
