The School District of Fort Atkinson is seeking a Musical Theatre Production Manager (Business Manager) to serve as the central administrative and operational leader for our musical theatre production program. This position provides critical organizational, financial, and logistical support to ensure a successful production while collaborating closely with artistic, vocal, musical, technical, and student leadership teams.

The Musical Theatre Production Manager serves as the primary coordinator for production operations, budgeting, scheduling, communications, and logistics. This role ensures that all production departments have the resources, support, and structure necessary to successfully bring each performance to the stage while maintaining a safe, organized, and positive environment for students and staff.

Essential Responsibilities

Fiscal Oversight and Production Budget Management

  • Monitor departmental spending, including set construction, costumes, props, and other production expenses, to ensure adherence to approved budgets.
  • Process and maintain financial records, purchase requests, and reimbursement documentation.
  • Coordinate business office requirements related to production expenditures and stipend administration.

Production Scheduling and Operations

  • Develop, maintain, and communicate the master production calendar.
  • Coordinate rehearsal schedules, technical work sessions, and performance timelines.
  • Support daily production operations and help ensure milestones and deadlines are met throughout the rehearsal and performance process.
  • Assist with production oversight in collaboration with the Artistic Director and leadership team.

Communication and Personnel Coordination

  • Serve as the primary communication liaison among directors, staff, students, families, and volunteers.
  • Distribute schedules, updates, and production-related information in a timely manner.
  • Support and supervise student leadership teams, including stage management and technical crew leaders.
  • Promote professional standards, accountability, and adherence to safety expectations.

Technical and Logistical Support

  • Coordinate procurement of materials, supplies, and resources needed by technical departments, including set, lighting, sound, costumes, and props.
  • Organize and oversee production logistics, including load-in, setup, performance operations, and strike activities.
  • Ensure efficient and safe use of facilities, equipment, and production spaces.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Manage production-related paperwork, including participation forms, permissions, and other required documentation.
  • Coordinate operational aspects of performances, including ticketing support, backstage logistics, and event readiness.
  • Maintain organized records and assist with overall production planning and reporting.
