Position Title: Full-Time Faculty Member – Math Department: Faculty
Classification: Exempt/Full-Time Reports To: Dean of School
Position Summary: The primary responsibility of this faculty member is to teach students the knowledge and understanding of subject matter in a way that demonstrates a gift for teaching, competence in the academic disciple, and a genuine love for students. The faculty member’s pedagogy should communicate the love of a subject so that an average student can achieve understanding, demonstrate comprehension, and show an appreciation of the subject. Candidates should be capable of teaching the courses below:
Mathematical Foundations (5th grade)
Pre-Algebra I (6th grade)
Pre-Algebra II (7th grade)
Algebra I (8th grade)
Geometry (9th grade)
Job Duties:
Ability to prepare and deliver a course syllabus and lesson plans, when requested
Teach assigned subjects
Prepare lesson plans and notes for class(es); create quizzes and tests
Grade homework, quizzes, tests and return in timely manner
Manage classroom, including behavior issues, missing / late work, etc.
Tutor struggling students
Parental contact: returning e-mails, phone calls in a timely manner
Attend required school functions
Attend and participate in faculty meetings
Compliance with all job requirements and conduct as stated in the Faculty/Staff Handbook
Agreement with the CSD Doctrinal Statement and School Mission and Vision
Hold a gift of teaching
Demonstrated competence in the academic discipline
Good classroom presentation skills
Counseling and feedback skills to students
Ability to effectively communicate with parents
Genuine love for students
Willingness to assume leadership of extra-curricular activities, when necessary
Adequate computer skills
Teamwork with teaching peers and administration
Vital Outputs: committed parents and students who have an appreciation for the subject matter, who achieve their highest potential in the subject matter, who understand the Biblical Worldview in the subject matter
This position is a full-time, exempt position which requires regular on-campus instruction.
Activities include walking, standing, bending, kneeling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. The work is performed primarily indoors.
Minimum Educational Background: College degree required; Master’s degree preferred (preferably in academic discipline)
Previous Related Experience: a preferred minimum of two years of teaching experience, ideally in classical setting
