Do you have a passion for helping others while confidently navigating difficult financial conversations? We're looking for a Member Solutions Specialist to join our collections team. In this role, you'll work with members to resolve delinquencies on various account types --- including loans, credit cards, lines of credit, and overdraft accounts --- using a compassionate, solutions-driven approach.
If you have collections experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to build positive member relationships even in tough situations, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do:
- Manage delinquent member accounts by phone, email, and other channels to resolve past-due balances
- Work delinquency, charge-off, and recovery queues with urgency and care
- Perform skip tracing and follow up on overdue accounts using available tools
- Collect on delinquent Visa, secured loans, lines of credit, real estate loans, and overdrafts
- Maintain detailed records of conversations, payment arrangements, and collection activity in our systems
- Educate members on options like Skip-a-Pay and alternative repayment solutions
- Support inbound calls and assist other departments with member account issues
- Participate in training, team meetings, and cross-functional support as needed
- Ensure compliance with all credit union policies, legal regulations, and collection standards
- Protect member confidentiality and the credit union's professional reputation at all times
What You Bring:
- High school diploma or GED
- 6+ months of collections experience (financial institution preferred)
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with default clauses, loan products, and general collection procedures is a plus
- Basic understanding of bankruptcy laws and financial hardship scenarios is helpful
- Comfortable using business systems, computers, and related software
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle sensitive conversations with professionalism
- Bilingual in Spanish and English strongly preferred
Schedule & Pay:
- Base Pay: $21.54/hour
- Bilingual Differential: Additional $0.75/hour for Spanish/English fluency
- Must be available to work any shift within:
- Monday -- Friday: 8:00 AM -- 6:00 PM
- Saturday: 9:00 AM -- 1:00 PM
- Department meetings held twice monthly on Wednesdays at 7:00 AM
