Job Summary

The Floor Care Technician focuses on Infection Control and Prevention by providing proper cleaning and sanitation throughout the hospital and assigned site campuses

Reports to: Supervisor, Environmental Services

Job Specific Responsibilities

Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:

  • Refine and maintain floors and carpets throughout the main hospital and any assigned campuses
  • Ensure clean utility rooms, stairwells, freight elevators, and common areas to visitors and staff
  • Collect and dispose of soiled linen, and assist with clean linen distribution, when needed
  • Provide minor general maintenance task including but not limited to: hanging drapes/ cubicle curtains, moving furniture, etc…
  • All other assigned duties related to Environmental Services

Education and Experience

Preferred: High School Diploma or GED.

Skills and Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of flooring and how to clean all types of floors and carpeting
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Attention to detail

Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships

This position requires close interaction with medical staff and ancillary areas in order to facilitate a quality multi-disciplinary approach to patient care and safety

Physical Capabilities

Requires wear or personal protective equipment (PPE); Ability to lift/move various types of equipment, supplies/chemicals, and furniture of medium weight. Work requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting and stretching.

Environmental/Working Conditions

This position is subject to indoor and outdoor environmental changes that may include varying temperatures. Exposure to chemicals used in cleaning supplies and blood/ blood borne pathogens is high risk.
