Pay Rate:$90,000 - $104,000 Annually
Schedule: Monday – Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Our focus is supporting individuals by ways of residential housing, mental health and clinical services, and immersing our participants in community engagement. Working closely with the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and the Office of Mental Health, we support 27 housing locations and 3 administrative buildings.
About the Role:
We are looking for a proactive employee to be for the oversight and monitoring of Agency RNs & LPNs, the medical on-call system, all on-call nursing systems, as well as ensuring compliance with all rules and regulations of oversight agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Identify the medical needs, and oversee the medical care of, participants; coordinate and advocate for the necessary support and services to address participant needs by working in conjunction with RNs, LPNs, program management, partner hospitals and other local agencies.
- Oversee and develop Agency medical protocol by assessing participant needs; including, but not limited to, reviewing and evaluating current medical protocol as it relates to participant/program needs and revising and/or developing new protocols as needed, abiding by applicable rules and regulations
- Oversee and review participant medical records on a regular basis to ensure the maintenance of orderly medical records for each participant; including pharmacy reviews and other required documentation
- Participate in pre-admission/intake, relocation, discharge and annual participant meetings as needed; review medical records, including current medications and treatments
- Ensure RNs and/or LPNs obtain/coordinate medical services for participants with other agencies and assist, as needed
- Stay informed and updated on participant health and ensure notes/other documentation is completed as required by regulations and Agency policy
- Conduct program site visits and complete routine audits to ensure compliance with medical protocols and requirements of oversight agencies
- Provide nursing assistance when assigned staff is not available, as needed
- Responsible for the oversight and supervision of all Agency RNs and LPNs, including the responsibility to provide support to RNs/LPNs with problem-solving, process-related concerns and any other troubleshooting necessary to ensure participant health and safety
- Provide ongoing direction, support and regular one on one supervision to staff
- Conduct performance evaluations of staff - initial, 6-month and annual; document performance concerns and follow-up with disciplinary action, if necessary
- Teach Approved Medication Assistive Personnel (AMAP) courses as needed to ensure staff certifications; conduct annual recertification per OPWDD regulations
- Ensure RNs observe and review staff competency in medication administration during site visits and make recommendations and/or changes, as needed
- Provide ongoing staff orientation, education and training regarding universal precautions, infection control, bloodborne pathogens, signs and symptoms of illness, first aid, and emergency medical interventions, etc.
- Practice the Code of Ethics and meet core competencies expectations set by OPWDD
- Ensure RNs are attending scheduled medical review meetings with Program Managers, Program Coordinators, or designees and assist, as needed
- Participate in quality assurance reviews in conjunction with the Quality Enhancement team to identify and implement systematic improvements
- Assist with follow-up and implementation of recommendations from internal, external and DQI audits
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, as needed
- Conduct self in a professional manner and expect the same of those supervised
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, as well as with Agency policies
- Perform Other Duties as Assigned
Education/Experience:
NYS Registered Nursing license, required. Minimum of 5 years of management and/or supervisory experience, required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing, required. Experience working with people with disabilities in OPWDD setting, required. Experience working with people with mental health diagnoses, preferred. Must demonstrate extraordinary verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills, as well as leadership and managerial skills. Must be able to demonstrate computer competency.
Conditions of Employment:
Must have a valid NYS Driver License in accordance with the Agency Vehicle and Driving policy and reliable transportation necessary to meet program needs. Must respect confidentiality. Must be able to lift 75lbs.
