We are looking for an experienced Director of Nursing to lead clinical operations, support and develop nursing staff, and drive excellence in resident care. Pay range: $98,000–$103,000, depending on experience.

Clinical Leadership & Quality of Care

  • Oversees all nursing care delivered to residents to ensure safe, effective, and person‑centered care.
  • Ensures comprehensive assessments, care plans, and clinical documentation comply with CMS, MDH/state, and facility standards.
  • Monitors resident outcomes, incident trends, falls, infections, pressure injuries, and hospital readmissions.
  • Leads Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives and corrective action plans.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (CMS, MDH, survey standards).
  • Prepares for, leads, and follows up on surveys, audits, and inspections.
  • Develops, implements, and enforces nursing policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
  • Ensures timely reporting of incidents, abuse/neglect allegations, and required notifications.

Staffing & Workforce Management

  • Determines appropriate staffing levels based on resident acuity and census.
  • Recruits, hires, orientates, trains, and retains nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, CNAs).
  • Provides supervision, coaching, performance evaluation, and disciplinary guidance.
  • Ensures staff competency validation, continuing education, and required licensure/certifications.

Administrative & Operational Oversight

  • Manages nursing department operations, scheduling, and staffing efficiency.
  • Collaborates with the Administrator and leadership team on budgeting, resource allocation, and labor management.
  • Ensures accurate clinical documentation, medication management, and infection control practices.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings, admissions, discharge planning, and care conferences.

Resident, Family, & Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Serves as a clinical resource for residents, families, physicians, and external providers.
  • Addresses resident and family concerns related to clinical care.
  • Collaborates with therapy, social services, dietary, and medical staff to support resident goals.
  • Promotes resident rights, dignity, and quality of life.

Leadership & Culture

  • Promotes a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Leads by example with professionalism, ethical practice, and effective communication.
  • Supports staff engagement, development, and retention.
  • Upholds organizational mission, values, and standards of care.

Typical Qualifications 

  • Active RN license in the state of MN.
  • Proven nursing leadership experience in a skilled nursing or long‑term care setting.
  • Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, survey process, and SNF clinical standards.
  • Effective leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
