A venture-backed AI SaaS / Cybersecurity company that has been operating in stealth for 3.5 years and recently entered Series B with significant funding. With 125 employees and rapid growth, the company is bringing its entire accounting function in-house for the first time. This is a unique opportunity to build something from scratch at a well-funded, high-growth tech company.

The role:
This is the company's first-ever Controller, reporting directly to the VP of Finance. It's an architect role that remains deeply hands-on — you'll own day-to-day accounting operations while simultaneously building the department's infrastructure from the ground up. This is not a role for someone looking to manage a large team right away; it's a blank canvas for someone who wants their fingerprints on everything.

Job Details

WHAT YOU'LL OWN:
  • Day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close
  • Financial systems and ERP implementation and workflow automation
  • Multi-entity accounting across intercompany transactions and consolidations (2 entities)
  • Full-cycle technical accounting compliance, financial reporting, audit, and tax filings
  • Designing and implementing the company's first bonus structure
  • Evaluating and implementing modern AI-powered accounting tools

REQUIREMENTS
  • Public accounting background required (CPA preferred)
  • Experience at a Series A or B software startup — ideally as the first or an early accounting hire
  • Multi-entity corporate structure experience required
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience in SaaS, AI, or tech environments
  • AI-forward mindset — comfortable adopting and implementing new accounting technologies
  • Ability to work hybrid (3 days/week in-office) in Manhattan
