Construction Technician / Carpenter Assistant

Overview

Northwest Custom Builders is looking for a dependable, motivated Construction Technician / Carpenter Assistant to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone with basic construction or carpentry experience who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in keeping projects organized and moving efficiently, and is looking to continue building their skills in residential construction and remodeling.

Our projects include custom homes, remodels, additions, roofing, and finish carpentry work throughout Kittitas County and surrounding areas. We’re looking for someone who is hardworking, reliable, coachable, and willing to jump in wherever needed to support the team.

This position includes a mix of job site setup and cleanup, assisting skilled carpenters and project leads, material and tool organization, running occasional errands for projects, and helping with a variety of carpentry and construction tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead carpenters and project managers with day-to-day construction tasks
• Help maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites
• Set up tools, materials, and work areas at the start of projects
• Assist with demolition, framing, siding, trim work, material handling, and general carpentry support
• Run occasional material, tool, or supply pickups between job sites
• Load, unload, and organize tools and construction materials
• Support project flow by helping crews stay efficient and prepared
• Follow safety procedures and maintain professionalism on client job sites
• Communicate well with team members and ask questions when needed

Qualifications

• Basic construction or carpentry experience required
• Comfortable using basic hand and power tools
• Ability to read a tape measure and complete basic construction tasks
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn and grow
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
• Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
• Positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed

Work Environment & Requirements

• Must arrive prepared for active construction job sites with appropriate work attire, including work boots and durable work clothing
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the year
• Ability to safely lift and carry construction materials and tools
• Must maintain a professional attitude and respectful appearance on client job sites

Preferred But Not Required

• Residential remodeling experience
• Basic framing or finish carpentry skills
• Experience working on active construction job sites
• Basic personal hand tools are a plus, but not required
