Since 1873, the social sorority and fraternity organizations have grown to become a vital part of the University of Kansas’ history and tradition. Today, the sorority and fraternity community represent over 40 organizations with more than 4,800 students committed to five core values: Academic Achievement, Civic & Community Engagement, Belonging, Personal & Professional Development, and Holistic Wellness. Sorority and Fraternity Life (SFL) is an administrative unit of the University which provides support and advocacy for these organizations. The organizations are represented by four different Governing Councils; the Interfraternity Council (IFC), the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), and the Panhellenic Association (PHA).

The Communications Coordinator reports to the Senior Associate Director for External Relations of Sorority & Fraternity Life. The Communications Coordinator designs strategic messaging campaigns and unique communications tools to enhance the Sorority and Fraternity Life community, including using print and digital media to highlight council and chapter initiatives that contribute to SFL Community Standards. The Communications Coordinator collaborates with SFL staff, student leaders, campus partners, and external constituents to highlight community values and respond to emergent needs related to the sorority and fraternity experience at KU.
