Job Title: Chemical Manufacturing Technician
Job Description
This role supports chemical manufacturing operations by managing materials through an ERP system, preparing and dispensing chemicals to internal specifications, and maintaining accurate records in a regulated environment. The Chemical Manufacturing Technician follows established procedures for manufacturing, storage, transportation, and disposal of chemicals while actively contributing to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Monitor inventory levels and schedule work orders effectively using the ERP system to ensure timely production.
- Create work orders, transfer materials, and decrement inventory accurately within the ERP system.
- Change, stage, and dispense materials for production as needed to support continuous manufacturing operations.
- Participate in customer and regulatory audits, including OSHA and EPA audits, by providing documentation and process information.
- Maintain accurate and detailed product, process, instrument, and training records in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Follow established procedures for the manufacturing, storage, and transportation of chemicals to ensure safety and product quality.
- Handle regulated waste in compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.
- Gather, interpret, and analyze scale readouts and related scripts to ensure correct material quantities and formulations.
- Troubleshoot issues related to product quality and delivery timelines as they arise, escalating concerns when necessary.
- Create materials according to internal specifications in a timely manner and deliver them to internal departments as required.
- Adhere to current waste disposal regulations, including RCRA requirements, and follow hazardous material DOT regulations.
- Follow hazardous material spill response protocols and participate in spill response activities as assigned.
- Participate in receiving, downloading, and uploading chemicals from tanker trucks into bulk tanks in a safe and compliant manner.
- Serve as a member of the Hazardous Material Spill Response Team, supporting response activities and drills.
- Comply with all safety standards and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to the respiratory protection program.
Essential Skills
- Basic knowledge of chemistry, supported by hands-on experience in laboratory, chemical handling, or related environments.
- Ability to work with laboratory procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in a manufacturing or chemical setting.
- Strong math skills to accurately interpret scale readouts, calculate quantities, and adjust formulations.
- Experience with chemical handling and familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or similar manufacturing process standards.
- Ability to effectively use an ERP system to create work orders, transfer materials, and manage inventory transactions.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related field.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions, scripts, and process documentation and apply them to daily operations.
- Capability to troubleshoot issues related to quality and delivery in a production environment.
- Ability to comply with all safety standards and procedures and work safely around chemicals and other substances.
- Ability to be medically cleared for and adhere to a respiratory protection program, including respirator fit testing and use.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Laboratory experience involving chemistry, chemical handling, or related processes.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and manufacturing process controls.
- Experience working with regulated waste, RCRA requirements, and hazardous material DOT regulations.
- Willingness to obtain HAZWOPER 24-hour Technician Certification (training provided onsite).
- Willingness to obtain RCRA awareness certification (training provided onsite).
- Willingness to obtain Certified Powered Industrial Truck Operator credentials (training provided onsite).
- Comfort working in a highly regulated environment with frequent audits and documentation requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for maintaining accurate records and following SOPs.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, auditors, and other internal departments.
Work Environment
This position operates in a chemical manufacturing environment where employees work around chemicals and other substances on a regular basis. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. Training will occur Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for the first 4 to 6 weeks. The role involves working with bulk tanks, tanker trucks, and an ERP system, as well as handling regulated waste and hazardous materials under RCRA and DOT requirements. The environment requires strict adherence to safety standards and procedures. Personal protective equipment is routinely required for extended periods, including safety toe footwear, gloves, safety glasses, goggles and/or face shield, lab coat, chemical-resistant apron, sleeves, hood, and Tyvek suits as needed. Use of a full-face respirator (APR and/or SCBA) for long periods is expected, and the ability to be medically cleared for and participate in the respiratory protection program is a condition of employment and continued employment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.89 - $28.50/hr.
