The Elkhorn Area School District is seeking an Administrative Assistant at Tibbets Elementary School. This position is year-round, working eight hours per day during the school year and six hours per day during the summer.

Office Responsibilities:

  • Assist students, parents, visitors and teachers with a customer service approach.
  • Enter and maintain accurate student information in the District databases.
  • Provide direct support to the school principal and staff by scheduling, preparing reports, and handling information requests.
  • Clerical tasks including correspondence, copying, use of office machines, and data entry, preparing/checking in requisitions/purchase orders, school newsletter, and maintaining the school social media accounts.
  • Manage building budgets, process and track purchase orders, and order supplies and materials
  • Complete assigned tasks in accordance with District procedures.
  • Provide assistance to teaching staff with clerical or student related needs as requested
  • Assign student chromebooks and assist IT department with help desk tickets and other related chromebook duties.
  • Assisting in lunch orders, payments and charging for student lunches
  • All other duties as assigned

Health Office Responsibilities:

  • Work under the supervision of the building principal and clinical supervision of the district nurse
  • Triage students coming into the health office due to illness or injury
  • Provide basic first aid and a team member approach to emergency care within established guidelines
  • Monitor students' health status during periods of short term rest or recovery
  • Administer medications and perform health room procedures under the direction, training and supervision of the school nurse
  • Coordinate and carry out health screenings under the direction of the district nurse
  • Perform clerical duties associated with the health office
  • Maintain accurate and confidential computer-based health records including office visits, the review and follow through of doctor's orders, medication administration and record keeping
  • Order, maintain and store supplies and equipment
  • Maintain health office cleanliness
  • Any or all other duties assigned

Qualifications:

  • Candidate should enjoy and effectively interact with the public, students and staff
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn Skyward (student database)
  • Strong skills in technology with proficiency in Microsoft and Google based applications
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills required
  • Ability to accurately keyboard a minimum of 60 words per minute
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time in a calm, pleasant and efficient manner
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Bilingual speaking candidates are encouraged to apply

  • Maintain accurate and organized student files and a high degree of confidentiality
  • Must have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective time management skills and ability to meet timelines
  • Possess excellent interpersonal relation skills in working with students, staff, parents, administration and community members
  • Ability to work independently on tasks and with frequent interruption
  • Familiarity with or willingness to be trained in First Aid, CPR and an AED
  • Ability to maintain the health and safety of students by following state law and School Board policy
  • Ability to frequently lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds unassisted with bending and twisting
  • High School diploma or equivalent
