In 1898 members of a neighborhood church on Chicago’s Northside banded together to finance home purchases for each other. They formed a building and loan association which later became known as Liberty Bank for Savings. Each month members contributed money and made home loans to one association member at a time.
The mutual charter launching our organization still guides us today and makes us very different from most banks. As a mutual bank association, we have no corporate owners, no stockholders. Profits are returned to shareholders in the form of higher savings or lower mortgage rates.
Many banks claim to provide excellent customer service but our forefathers chose a legal framework to ensure that customer service – not profits -- always came first. You can expect the same one-on-one personal attention that our customers have always enjoyed. When you ask which checking or mortgage program is best for you, you’ll get an honest answer, not one influenced by profitability or financial incentives.
With Liberty, you get the best of both worlds: a full complement of banking services that help you achieve your financial goals and manage your money easily and conveniently, and the kind of personal touch you can only get from your local community bank that calls Chicago and the suburbs “home.”
We’ve built a banking experience you can customize to fit your plans and the way you live. You’ll find a wide array of checking account choices, savings plans, IRAs and CD products, and all the latest electronic banking options – including online banking, mobile banking, electronic bill pay and paperless statements – that let you bank however, whenever and wherever you want.
