ProductsPaper and Distribution Businesses
The Printing & Communications Papers business makes a broad line of papers for a multitude of uses and is the No. 1 producer of uncoated papers worldwide. The business consists of Commercial Printing & Imaging Papers, Converting Papers and Market Pulp. The Commercial Printing & Imaging Papers business makes a variety of papers for use in offset printing, books, annual reports and advertising materials, and fine paper products including premium
writing, text, cover and artist papers. Imaging and office papers are produced for use in photocopiers, office printers, digital imaging printers and general business correspondence.
The Converting Papers business provides paper for
forms, envelopes, file folders, tablets, tags, index cards, poster board and stick paper. The Market Pulp business sells a full line of hardwood and softwood kraft and fluff pulps produced at IP mills around the globe. These pulps are used
worldwide to produce printing and writing papers, tissue and toweling, packaging and absorbent hygiene products.
The Coated and Supercalendered Papers business serves customers in the catalog, magazine and direct mail markets and has the No. 1 position in coated papers in North America. The business also manufactures papers used to produce inserts, brochures and annual reports.
International Paper’s distribution business, xpedx, is a customer-driven distributor of printing paper, packaging, facility supplies and graphic imaging prepress equipment and supplies. xpedx delivers customer solutions through nearly 110 distribution centers and 154 retail stores across the United States and Mexico. The xpedx market focus is retail,
commercial printing, on-demand printing, heavy manufacturing, automotive, hi-tech manufacturing and publishing. xpedx provides e-business solutions through xpedx.com. Customers have online ordering capability with real-time inventory accessibility and 24/7 access.
Consumer and Industrial Packaging Businesses
The Bleached Board business produces premium bleached board grades sold in approximately 50 countries worldwide and used in packaging applications for juice, milk, food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, computer software and tobacco products. The business is the No. 1 producer of bleached board globally.
Beverage Packaging is a leader of packaging systems, servicing the juice, dairy and specialty markets. Beverage Packaging provides integrated packaging systems from packaging material and pouring spouts to state-of-the-art filling
The Foodservice business is one of the nation's leading manufacturers and marketers of disposable packaging for the foodservice industry. Foodservice offers a wide variety of disposable packaging, including cups, lids, cartons, food containers, trays and plates. Foodservice produces packaging choices to national quick-service restaurants,
distributors, specialty coffee, vending, bottler, convenience store and theater/concession markets.
Shorewood Packaging is a leading value-added provider of premium packaging for entertainment, cosmetic, personal care, tobacco and other consumer products. Shorewood Packaging also offers high-impact, point-of-purchase displays and packaging as well as contract packaging and fulfillment services.
The Containerboard business produces a wide range of products that provide top performance packaging in specialized applications such as corrugated boxes that are exposed to wet and high-humidity conditions; boxes that require exceptional stacking strength or that encounter rough handling conditions during distribution and storage; or
packages that require economical, colorful, high-graphics images printed on the outside of the corrugated packaging. The business is the No. 3 producer of containerboard globally.
The Container business produces corrugated shipping containers for a wide array of markets including the food,Industrial and consumer and automotive segments.
Specialty Packaging includes operations that produce point-of-purchase displays and heavy-duty laminated bulk bins for automotive parts. Additional specialty facilities print high-quality graphics directly on paperboard materials before
they are made into finished boxes. Thilmany Packaging produces printed and converted specialty paper products. Specialty Papers is a manufacturer of lightweight and pressure sensitive papers and converted products. These products are used in applications such as pressure sensitive labels, food and industrial packaging, industrial sealants
and tapes, and consumer hygiene products.
Forest Products Businesses
Through Forest Resources, International Paper is the largest private landowner in the United States with 8.3 million acres of forestland. The company also owns, manages or has harvesting rights to an additional 10.9 million acres in Canada, Russia, New Zealand and Brazil for a total of more than 19 million acres worldwide.
International Paper’s Wood Products business produces high-quality wood materials used for residential and commercial construction throughout North America and Europe. The business, which is the No. 2 producer of softwood lumber in North America, includes 21 U.S. lumber mills, five plywood mills, two pole plants and one engineered wood products mill. IP’s top-quality wood is branded for sale at several retail home improvement warehouses.
Weldwood manufactures lumber, plywood, engineered wood products, treated wood products and northern bleached softwood kraft pulp for global markets. Weldwood manages 7.9 million acres of Crown land and is a leader in achieving internationally recognized environmental certification systems that require independent review and confirmation. In
2001, Weldwood made history when it became the first Canadian-based forest products company to certify all of its multiple forestry operations to CAN/CSA Z809 – Canada's national standard for sustainable forest management.
Arizona Chemical is a leading, global supplier of pine chemicals for the adhesives, inks and coatings and oleochemicals markets. It supplies fatty acids, rosins, terpenes and their derivatives to a variety of industries. Arizona Chemical products are made from natural and renewable resources (mainly pine trees) and are used to help make adhesives,
fragrances, personal care items, plastics, household cleaners, soaps, inks, paints, rubber products, hydraulic fluids,roofing material and much more.
