Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield has operations centers in nine states. These core health operations are organized into four strategic business units: Anthem Midwest, East, West and Southeast. Collectively, these business units cover millions of members. The Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies are independent licensees of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
Anthem's Midwest Region consists of the company's core health operations in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio, where the company distributes its products under the Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield tradename. Anthem Midwest serves nearly 5.6 million customers.
Anthem's East Region consists of the company's core health insurance operations in Connecticut, New Hampshire and Maine, where the company distributes its products under the Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield tradename. Anthem East serves approximately 2.6 million customers.
Anthem's West Region consists of the company's core health operations in Colorado and Nevada, where the company distributes its products under the Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield tradename. Anthem West serves approximately 910,000 customers.
