Alhambra Hospital Medical Center, the first solely Chinese Owned hospital in Southern California of the United States, is a 144-bed general acute care hospital. The hospital is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

The hospital is conveniently located in the business district of the City of Alhambra in the Los Angeles County, about 3 miles from downtown Los Angeles. The 6 - story building sits on a spacious 5.5 acre with a 20,000 square foot adjacent lot for future expansion.

The Hospital was originally established in 1924 and moved to its current location in 1974. Prior to being sold to a Taiwanese philanthropist Mr. Wang in 1991, it was owned by the City of Alhambra and operated by a non-profit corporation. Since the sale of the Hospital in 1991, the Hospital has remained as a for-profit, private owned facility. In 1998, due to the expansion of the his business ventures in Taiwan, which required much of his time, Mr. Wang decided to sell the Hospital to AHMC, Inc. Due to the change of the ownership, the hospital's name was changed to Alhambra Hospital Medical Center.

Alhambra Hospital Medical Center presently employs over 600 employees, each of whom is committed to providing the highest quality, personalized medical care to the community. Since the Los Angeles area has a diversified ethnic population consisting of Caucasians, Asians, Hispanics and Blacks, the hospital's operational mission is aimed at serving the different needs of each individual ethnic group.

Exemplary service access to Alhambra Hospital Medical Center is assured and provided to all patients. The Emergency Room is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Also, the Occupational Health Center, managed by the Emergency Room, is able to handle industrial injuries, as well as pre-employment physicals for companies in the area.

In addition to the Emergency Room, the hospital also has several departments specifically designed to render appropriate care based upon the severity of illness and the complexity of each case. Specialized units include Intensive / Coronary Care Unit, Definitive Observation Unit (Telemetry), Medical / Surgical, Subacute Unit and an Acute Rehabilitation Center.

Located in Los Angeles County, BHC Alhambra Hospital is a full-service acute care psychiatric hospital dedicated to providing quality behavioral health, substance abuse and eating disorder services for the San Gabriel Valley and surrounding areas. Our wide variety of services for all ages include:

Adult Psychiatric Services- BHC Alhambra Hospital offers a complete spectrum of acute psychiatric services including:

Inpatient/Rapid Stabilization: Patients stay overnight in a safe, stable, nurturing and therapeutic environment, treatment and structured activities are based on an individual’s needs and goals.

Partial Hospitalization/Outpatient programs: Patients attend 5 days a week, 6 hours per day in extensive treatment; individual and in groups. Click here to learn more.

Adolescent Psychiatric Services- When the problems associated with adolescence become abnormal, uncontrollable or damaging, your teen may need professional help. BHC Alhambra Hospital offers a complete spectrum of adolescent psychiatric services to young people 12 to 18 years of age.

Children’s Psychiatric Services- Each child is an individual with a unique pattern of growth, personal thoughts and behavior. We take this uniqueness into consideration when providing a complete spectrum of age-specific services to children under the age of 12.

Chemical Dependency Services- The Right Path at BHC Alhambra Hospital offers a full spectrum of care including inpatient and outpatient detox, and evening intensive outpatient programs (CDIOP) for adults struggling with substance abuse/chemical dependency problems including dual diagnosis.

Eating Disorders Inpatient and Outpatient Services- Reasons Eating Disorder Center @ BHC Alhambra Hospital provides individualized and intensive eating disorder treatment in four programs: inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient for males and females ages 12 and older.

Clinical Trials- BHC Alhambra Hospital participates in ongoing research in clinical trials. Inpatient and outpatient clinical trials for adults are FDA approved and further efficacy of psychotropic medications and treatment protocols


Facility

Our acute-care facility offers comfort, confidentiality and cutting edge treatment programs for ages 4 through adult. Inpatient day treatment and evening outpatient programs are available. 24 hours a day and 7 days a week confidential assessments with a counselor by telephone are available at no cost.
