Field Service Technician

Perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of a building in repair. Duties may involve pipe fitting; HVAC maintenance; insulating; welding; machining; carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment; and repairing buildings, floors, or stairs.

This role performs inspection of equipment outside company facilities to diagnose the root cause of issues. Also works to conduct testing of the equipment and must be able to install new equipment or repair existing equipment. May need to overhaul used or refurbished equipment. Willing to travel extensively based on the needs of the job. Ability to test the performance of the equipment against set standards like performance standards and safety standards etc. Assist customers with training material when needed. Manage company assets safely and as per company policies. Perform administrative duties like completing expense reports and service activity reports etc.

Provide technical assistance to computer users. Answer questions or resolve computer problems for clients in person, via telephone, or electronically. May provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail, and operating systems.

Directly supervise and coordinate the activities of mechanics, installers, and repairers. May also advise customers on recommended services. Excludes team or work leaders.

Maintain and repair equipment, machines, and other products. Conduct safety checks and quality assurance on all equipment. Effectively respond to service requests and provide clear client feedback. Oversee all corrective, preventative, and technical maintenance. Provide customer guidance addressing all questions, concerns and inquiries regarding service and maintenance.

Interact with customers to provide basic or scripted information in response to routine inquiries about products and services. May handle and resolve general complaints. Excludes individuals whose duties are primarily installation, sales, repair, and technical support.

Apply electrical and electronic theory and related knowledge, usually under the direction of engineering staff, to design, build, repair, adjust, and modify electrical components, circuitry, controls, and machinery for subsequent evaluation and use by engineering staff in making engineering design decisions.

Work with internal and external stakeholders. Develop and support the structural and functional integrity of building and design projects through testing, evaluating, and improving building design. Utilize both mathematical and scientific principles to design, analyze, and alter plans, prototypes, and structures. Collaborate closely with team members to identify project goals and take an active role in project objectives, budgets, and timelines. Identify and creatively solve problems with building plans, prototypes and structures and consult with clients on building plans.

Analyze and coordinate the schedule, timeline, procurement, staffing, and budget of a product or service on a per project basis. Lead and guide the work of technical staff. May serve as a point of contact for the client or customer.
