A 504 bed hospital located at I-35 and 75th Street in the heart of Johnson County, SMMC is Kansas City's most preferred hospital. With nearly 700 doctors on our medical staff, we see more than 20,000 inpatient admissions each year. Culture
As SMMC grows in size and technology, the hospital’s well-earned reputation for outstanding personalized healthcare remains steadfast. Like other Adventist-operated hospitals, SMMC is committed to meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the people it serves. Expanded services include such programs and resources as chaplaincy services, prayer teams for associates, prayer services, and grief recovery counseling. Physicians and associates participate in community outreach programs, including various community health fairs, women’s health educational events including Speaking of Women’s Health; a 5K run/walk with proceeds benefiting Midland Adventist Academy; multiple charity golf tournaments and health screenings for area employers. SMMC physicians and associates also reach out to help others outside the community through the efforts of Christmas in October, United Way, Camp Bluebird for adult cancer patients and several blood drives throughout the year. SMMC provides funding for the Health Partnership of Johnson County , which provides medical care for those in need in Johnson County area and surrounding communities. SMMC offers a community wellness program, providing 30 classes monthly, ranging from birth preparation to smoking cessation. SMMC accepts most major insurance plans. Physicians, associates and management work together to improve patient care at SMMC. Ongoing community and patient surveys provide valuable information to help the hospital maintain the high level of care its patients expect and deserve.

SMMC offers an array of services, including a 24-hour emergency center; conveniently located Urgent Care Center; high-tech imaging capabilities with MRI, CT scans, nuclear medicine techniques, x-ray, ultrasound, mammography and cardiac catheterization; mental health and addiction recovery; general and same-day surgery suites; a birthing center; a cardiac rehab program; a surgical robotics center; ICU, Medical/Surgical rooms services.

The area offers a small-town lifestyle with the conveniences and cultural opportunities of metropolitan area. Located in the nation’s heartland, Kansas City hosts all four seasons, ranging from fall’s vibrant foliage to spring’s lush greenery. In addition, an abundance of professional sports teams, shopping areas and religious, civic and cultural programs make the area an ideal location for residents and visitors. A variety of lakes, parks, campgrounds and golf courses offer many types of recreational activities. The local public school systems, rated among the best in the country, have more than 110 schools, and the area has several private and Christian schools, including a Seventh-day Adventist academy. Undergraduate work is offered at a variety of community and junior colleges, including nationally recognized Johnson County Community College, and bachelor's and master's level programs are available through the University of Kansas Regent’s Center. In addition, Johnson County public schools rank first in the Kansas City metro area and have one of the highest levels of educational attainment of any county in the nation.
