Job Description

Red Bridge has an immediate full-time opening for a Configuration Management Engineer.  You would be a full time employee of our client. We do not work with third parties. We cannot work with candidates that require sponsorship. 


Configuration Management Engineer Position Summary:

Responsibilities include managing the source code control system and build process automation for Company’s Supply Cloud (CSC) System. This position involves interaction with internal and outsourced software engineers, as well as members of the QA and product management teams.  Tasks include management of source control systems such as Microsoft Team Foundation System server or Git Server, managing and automating the overall build process, building and automating deployments, helping QA teams with automated builds & testing infrastructure, ad-hoc changes to support Development/QA efforts, input/advice to senior Development Managers regarding best use of configuration management capabilities, and producing internal documentation/reports regarding build status and changes.

 

Configuration Management Engineer Accountability: 

  • Work with various development teams to build and support automated builds (including automated unit testing), supporting daily continuous integration
  • Develop (from scratch) and maintain fully automated build system to build, test and deploy into various environments
  • Administering and maintaining version control software, code repository and backup files
  • Build deployment strategies and look for opportunities for continuous improvements
  • Develop automated test scripts to be run in a staged environment to smoke test and ensure application stability
  • Identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving problems with the build process and ensuring the build/deployment has been accepted by all parties
  • Coordinating release with development, operations and testing teams to ensure systems are ready to be deployed
  • Isolating developers from build process, deployment automation, branching and merging of source code as needed
  • Attending required release meetings
  • Keeping internal tools and data in sync with changes
  • Auditing configuration controlled artifacts
  • Contributing to the maintenance of standard development, stage and test environments
  • Communication of successful release to targeted groups.
  • Analyzing and recommending corrective action and/or resolving release delivery failures
  • Continually seeking methods to enhance and improve upon current processes
  • Flexible work hours are required as there is occasional weekend and after hours work required




Job Requirements

Configuration Management Engineer Required Skills: 


  • Experience with several source control systems including distributed systems
  • In-depth knowledge of Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server
  • In-depth knowledge of Git and distributed version control systems
  • In-depth knowledge of Maven
  • Experience with build automation tools such as MS Build, Jenkins/Hudson, TeamCity etc.
  • Experience with configuration management for both .net & java worlds
  • Three years of experience in Release, Configuration, and Change Management processes
  • Strong aptitude towards solving complex technical issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong analytical skills, good judgment, passion for work
  • Comfort with agile, plan-driven and hybrid SDLC methodologies
  • Understands importance of accuracy and responsiveness with a strong sense of urgency
  • Experience with enterprise class cloud-based software offering is preferred

 

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's or Masters Degree in Computer Science or related engineering degree, or the equivalent experience.
