We are seeking someone to lead our SAP IT Organization.  This is a Sr Management position located in New York City requiring at least 5 years Senior IT Leadership experience at at least 3 years Global ERP implementation experience.  Full job description with experience requirements are below for your review. 


Job Description:  This person is accountable and responsible for the SAP Center of Excellence (COE) organization and the role will be responsible for the Internal and Outsourced IT teams which support the financial and reporting systems.  The scope of this role is the management of up to 10 company  employees and 25 outsourced staff (onshore and offshore) and an annual budget of $7 - $9 million.   This role will also be responsible for setting the IT strategy to globally optimize the Financial Management, Order to Cash and Human Capital Management capabilities, implementing new solutions and supporting the existing landscape.

The COE supports the information (SAP and related) systems and interfaces which supports financial business management functions of the organization.  In addition, the department also supports the Quality and Testing COE for Information Technology. 

Detailed Job Description/ Responsibilities

  • Interfaces with business managers responsible for the finance, royalty and reporting functions.  This includes a detailed understanding of financial management processes and how they are supported by the individual IT systems.
  • Establish and maintain Application Management Practices for the SAP COE in alignment with company policies.
  • Define the IT strategy to optimize financial processes and associated IT systems on a global basis.  This will require the ability to understand the financial operations and financial supply chain.
  • Ensure investments are governed to achieve highest value and are managed thru implementation and value realized for key business processes
    • Financial Business Management (General Accounting, Fixed Asset Accounting, Project Accounting, Cost Center Accounting, Profit Center Accounting, Project Budgeting and Forecasting, Tax and Treasury, Financial Profitability Analysis, Financial Consolidation)
    • Procure to Pay
    • Financial Reporting
    • Order To Cash (future)
    • Hire to Retire (future)
  • Interfaces with all the 3rd party partners, service providers and customers of the financial business operations supported by this department.
  • Manage the day-to-day production support activities for all of the applications supported by the department.
  • Manage the prioritization, scheduling and execution of application change requests, enhancements and projects for the applications supported by the department.
  • Review and approve detailed project work plans prepared by project/process leads.
  • Overall responsibility for the creation and management of the department budget, including quarterly forecasting.
  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of the detailed department resource plan for both internal and outsourced resources.
  • HR and administrative responsibility for the department staff.
  • Member of the Senior IT Leadership team.  Responsible for coordinating production and project inter-dependencies with the rest of the IT Leadership team.
  • Responsible for necessary IT Program Management Office requirements and deliverables on behalf of the SAP COE team.


Job Requirements

Required Competencies/Skills

  • Minimum 5 years Senior IT Leadership experience, preferably in a global capacity.
  • Minimum 3 Global ERP (minimum 1 SAP) implementations.
  • Minimum 10+ years IT Project Management experience.
  • Possesses strong collaboration, communication and influencing skills.
  • Strong ability to work effectively with a distributed multi-culture international team, across time zones with minimal supervision.
  • Proven experience working with outsourced operations functions (e.g., accounts payable shared services, etc.).
  • Proven global applications management experience.
  • Proven experience creating and managing multi-million dollar IT budgets.
  • Large systems development and implementation experience (projects greater than 9 months and/or 1,500 workdays).
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop business relationships, understand strategic business requirements and to negotiate IT priorities with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop, articulate and build support around a long term vision and implement incremental milestones in support of that vision.
  • Ability to create complex IT program plans that incorporate several elements – inter-dependencies within multiple work streams, inter-dependencies external to the project, significant business user involvement, international scope, etc.
  • Experience managing 3rd party contractors and offshore development resources.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to design IT capabilities around the complexities of high volume micro transactions.
  • Ability to achieve results through influence over external and internal staff who are direct reports as well as those who are not.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of interfacing effectively with finance and accounting managers and executives.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Windows applications including Microsoft Excel, Project, Word, PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Travel to other company locations, as necessary (domestic and international).


Education Required: Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Management Science or Computer Information Systems or 10+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination and experience.
