SQL Developer – Data Management Systems Engineer – Consultant


Job Responsibilities


As an SQL Developer, you will design the conceptual, logical and physical data models necessary to support the analytic data requirements for various department reporting needs. This will involve independently conducting quantitative analytics. You must be comfortable working with systems as well as data.


Your specific duties as an SQL Developer will include:


  • Leading efforts in the development of new models, analytic processes or system approaches
  • Creating documentation for all activities
  • Working with technology staff as needed in the design of systems to run developed models
  • Improving and streamlining processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve data accuracy, viability and value
  • Challenging data and information integrity
  • Working as a business partner to provide decision support to various LOB unit leaders
  • Conducting special studies to analyze complex financial actions and prepares recommendations for policy, procedure, control or action
  • Developing models and providing input and feedback to improve the ability to plan and control financial and business drivers
  • Participating in the ongoing development and operations of a business intelligence architecture that enables fact-based decision making as well as ad hoc analysis and insight generation
  • Modeling, designing and developing Operational Data Store
  • Designing and prototyping new analyses, reports, applications and systems
  • Enhancing old processes and defining new ones
  • Conducting data mining and producing novel reports for management
  • Working closely with Line of Business clients to develop and enhance SQL data base solutions

Job Requirements


As a SQL Developer, you must be a self-starter with the ability to effectively function with a minimum of direction. You must also be highly detail-oriented and organized with strong quantitative and analytic skills and the ability to influence strategic direction and to develop tactical plans. It is also important that you have excellent communication and customer-relations abilities.


Specific qualifications for the SQL Developer position include:


  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or Finance
  • Minimum 7 years of industry experience
  • Strong SQL query experience
  • Strong ETL and data analysis experience
  • Ability to program in a fast paced, accelerated-development environment
  • Strong Excel skills, including VBAs
  • Candidate must have strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills
  • Comfortable conducting process reengineering "Solve" sessions
  • Willingness to work onsite in Simi Valley, CA, Agoura Hills, CA or Dallas, TX.
  • Knowledge of or experience with Loan Servicing /Mortgage banking (including default loan servicing) strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of any programming languages like Visual Basic/C++/C# a definite plus
  • Experience working with large amounts of data, conducting analysis and presenting findings a plus
  • Finance System and/or Operations experience a plus
