Insurance Claims Specialist Job Duties:
_ Medical Collections: Utilize A/R reports and identify accounts that are past timely
payment. Make contact with insurance company, adjusters, doctor’s offices, and
patients to learn status of payment.
_ Appeals: Write appeals to insurance companies to overturn pending, incorrect
reimbursement, or denied bills.
_ Medical Billing: Re-bill claims that are lost by insurance company, and provide
substantiating documentation if necessary.
_ Documentation: Obtain necessary information (updated diagnosis codes, billing
codes, claim numbers, dates of injury, claims addresses etc...) and submit to
insurance carrier to affect payment of claim.
_ Physician/Insurance/Patient Interaction: Contact physician’s office, insurance
adjusters, or patients to relay and/or obtain pertinent information to affect the
collection of a claim.
