Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Manufacturing located in our Corporate Headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota.  This position is accountable for all manufacturing activities at the facilities in California, Kentucky, Minnesota, Oklahoma, and Washington. 

 

Major Areas of Accountability:

 

  • Direct the production activities of the manufacturing facilities to ensure that process procedures are followed, customer orders are filled, and delivery schedules are met.
  • Monitor manufacturing’s compliance with their operating and capital budgets while ensuring that the standards of safety, housekeeping, and plant maintenance are not compromised.
  • Review all aspects of the manufacturing operation to determine areas where quality, safety, environmental standards, and/or productivity standards are not being achieved – and initiate corrective action.
  • Recruit and train capable managers in all areas of manufacturing.
  • Develop and implement inventory management practices to ensure that the manufacturing facilities meet the demands of the marketplace, while optimizing inventory turnover and the corporation’s working capital position.
  • Implement programs to reduce or eliminate waste of all kinds.
  • Establish personnel performance standards that will support the objectives of the corporation and ensure that they are maintained for all manufacturing personnel.  Provide training opportunities as required so that those standards are met.
  • Manage manufacturing plants in full compliance with all environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish standard and uniform operating procedures at each manufacturing facility.
  • Establish programs and philosophies that ensure the maintenance and modernization of all plants and equipment, as well as the control of processes to meet ever increasing market demands for quality, consistency and purity.

Job Requirements

The Ideal Candidate will have the following:

 

  • B.S. degree in Engineering/related technical field or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years direct experience managing in a chemical manufacturing setting.
  • Batch Chemical manufacturing experience; knowledge of unsaturated polyester resins is a plus.
  • Strong work ethic and leadership skills and the ability to drive change.
  • Familiarity with the ISO9001:2000 quality management system, lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma, process automation, and managing union relationships.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of computer expertise.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • The ability to travel as required.
