Job Description

Novelty, Inc is a multi-channel product development company.  We design high impulse items and sell them through numerous platforms.  Novelty prides itself on developing the coolest merchandise on earth and then building sales models that help retailers merchandise and sell the product.  We have built the company to support multiple channels of distribution.  Novelty, Inc. is a very entrepreneurial company started by Todd Green while in High School.  The company has now been in business since 1980 and has successfully grown into a major supplier of high impulse novelty merchandise.  We have a major product design center based in our Indiana support center.


The Sales Account Manager works in a regional area managing a broad scope of  customers and prospects mainly through Direct Store Delivery (DSD). The Sales Account Manager is growing  business accounts through sourcing and introducing trendy, high volume, highly profitable opportunities in general merchandise in the world of retail. You will also be responsible for managing current business.

The individual appointed to this role will be primarily tasked with;

(a) Managing and prospecting business, developing relationships from within their market/assigned territory.
(b) Managing items, promotions and special programs for customer prospects , as well as managing established Key Accounts within your area.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Must be persistent, excellent organizational skills and follow-up.
  • Generate new business.  It is expected that Sales Account Manager will be able to develop and close a number of new business relationships per year with some of the world’s largest and most respected convenience stores and retailers
  • Achieve/exceed individual monthly targets of revenue and sales.
  • Develop existing contacts / senior level relationships within new and existing prospective buyers to ensure they understand our value propositions and the benefits they can bring.
  • Be self-sufficient in self generating appointments and activities that lead to opportunities.
  • Develop a detailed knowledge of potential customers, product offering, new developments in programs.
  • Be an ambassador for the business by attending tradeshows and meetings; generally leveraging opportunities to build greater awareness of our product lines
  • Develop and execute action plans on a quarterly basis that will produce sales.
  • Capable of doing needs analysis with potential customers and defining a forward looking solution.
  • Network and develop channel relationships with direct buyers in your territory.

  • Communication Skills – Excellent phone skills and face to face skills, thinks on their feet, presents logically, listens to client needs, responds to objections, and creates interest in product. Strong written and verbal skills are needed.
  • Initiative – Takes action, initiates calls in pursuit of sales. Builds confidence, answers questions, recommends solutions.
  • High Energy – Maintains high productivity/activity level. Persistent, never give up
  • Values and Culture – Sets high performance standards for self and the organization


  • Previous experience selling products or service solutions through proactive direct sales within a business-to-business sales environment.
  • Experienced and proven effectiveness at presenting to diverse business prospects.
  • Proven success in prospecting, self-lead generation and business development.
  • Previous experience of brand-responsibility and acting as a key representative spokesperson of the company in the field.
  • Professional and clear communication skills coupled with the ability to network at a high level and build strong business relationships.
  • Proven, prospecting and territory development skills.
  • Proven ability to manage a growing pipeline of transactions
  • Flexibility to work the hours required to solicit new leads, make contact with prospects and ultimately convert prospects to customer sales.
  • Intermediate level of MS office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required.
  • College degree preferred.




  • Base plus Commission + Great Benefits
