Coding and Documentation Specialist


Overview:


This position requires passionate people with attention to detail and strong knowledge of Medicare coding and payment methodologies.  Hierarchical Condition Codes (HCC) and Medicare Risk Adjustment (MRA).  Interpersonal skills to work and deal with physicians, office managers, etc.  Working knowledge of computers with accurate typing skills and basic knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel are added advantages.


 


Responsibilities:


  • Coordinates and implements MRA programs in physician offices
  • Accurately and efficiently conducts retrospective medical record review services
  • Ensures proper coding guidelines and other IPA condition protocols are being effectuated
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with care provider offices, clinics and other staff members
  • Encourages physicians to proactively participate in retrospective, concurrent and prospective reviews of the medical records
  • Abides by all HIPAA and associated patient confidentiality requirements
  • Conducts training programs to PCP’s and other care providers in the clinics on periodic basis





Job Requirements

Education:


  • LPN licensure with a minimum of one year experience working in a physician office or hospital
  • Knowledge of billing and ICD9 coding
