Moodle LMS Specialist


The individual in this role will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving issues, testing new features, and providing subject matter expertise to other internal departments pertaining to Engage, Deltak’s Moodle-based Learning Management System.   


This person will have deep, functional knowledge of Moodle from both an administrative and end user point of view.  The LMS Specialist will report to the Implementation Director and work with a variety of internal departments to provide support and subject matter expertise pertaining to Engage.  



- Develop and share deep knowledge of Deltak’s instance of Moodle (Engage)

- Work with Academic Services to establish and document best practices for configuring course activities.

- Provide Engage support for internal Deltak departments such as Academic Services and Student Services.

- Provide level-2 support to the help desk, providing timely responses to Engage-related issues reported by students and faculty.

- Collaborate with the operations and development teams to investigate and test Moodle plugins and integrations with external systems.

- Participate in the advanced testing of Engage platform releases.

- Assist the Deltak Systems Trainer to document standard process flows and other assets for job aids and training materials.

- Configure and apply themes to partner sites.

Job Requirements


- Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.

- Advanced experience administering Moodle environments, performing tasks including:

    * platform configuration,

    * course configuration,

    * course activity configuration,

    * user account management,

    * course cloning and migration,

    * plugin configuration,

    * grader report configuration.

- End user software support experience.

- Committed to delivering excellent customer service.

- Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

- Team player who can easily adapt in a rapidly changing environment.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.


Desired Experience:

- Experience configuring and managing Mahara or other ePortfolio platforms.

- Experience configuring and managing Adobe Connect meetings.

- Experience configuring and managing TurnItIn accounts.

- Experience using content management systems to capture and publish content.

- HTML/web content development experience.

- LAMP stack administration would be an asset.
